//Ryan Kraft was born November 7, 1975 in Bottineau, North Dakota. The eighth round, 194th overall selection of the San Jose Sharks in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Kraft is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.
An offensively gifted forward, Kraft played four seasons at the University of Minnesota registering 162 points (61-101-162) before making his professional debut with the ECHL's Richmond Renegades in 1998-99. The following year, Kraft split the season between Richmond, the AHL's Kentucky Thoroughblades and the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks.
In his first full season in the AHL in 2000-01, Kraft registered 88 points (38-50-88); leading all AHL Rookies in goals, assists and points while being selected to the AHL All-Rookie Team and the AHL's Second All-Star Team. Following his impressive rookie campaign, Kraft competed for the US at the 2001 World Championships.
After being drafted by San Jose back in 1995 and never signing a contract with the club, Kraft became a free agent and subsequently signed with San Jose in the summer of 2001. Upon signing with the Sharks, Kraft saw most of his playing time with the team's AHL affiliate in Cleveland before making his NHL debut during the 2002-03 season.
In 2003-04, Kraft joined the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
